The view from my tent by the Zavkhan River, in northwestern Mongolia, in September of 2015. I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep, most probably because of the excitement of the days I had ahead of me in that remote area of the world.
This was our group’s third night in Mongolia, and we set up camp by the river after a long riding day. I was anxious to see the stars, but the skies were overcast for most of the night. By the time I decided to get a little walk while my fellow riders were asleep, the stars made a quick appearance, and I had enough time to get this ‘half-baked’ shot.
The next day was one of the most memorable and challenging riding days I have ever had, full of tricky tracks, almost impossible sand traps, and astonishing views. Except for the few people in our group, we didn’t see a single soul, nor passed by any man-made structure. More to follow…
