Some black & white images from last winter’s trip to Alaska, when I spent two weeks exploring some well-known roads on a 4×4 van owned by my good friend Jeff Dixon. He joined me in my search for a different take on the places I used to visit during the past few summers, always on my own motorcycle. Since a bike is not the ideal choice for winter journeys, the van was simply the best option I could have asked for. The routine for the days on the road was basically the same, every single day: stop by some place along whichever road we were driving on, then photograph the whole night, on short 15-minute takes (as anyone can guess, it was extremely cold for most of the time, and in some nights we faced minus 30º F), then sleep in the van for a good part of the morning and drive during the afternoon to another good place to spend the night shooting. Not a bad routine at all…
